  • “The coffee machine makes great tasting espresso drinks and we like that it’s modular in a way. If something goes awry with the process, you have the ability to recover by simply changing a component and then of course, it’s also very easy to clean. The stainless steel construction looks great in any living room to show your friends or in the office to flaunt it for your customers.”

  • “The Prima Donna looks stunning; produces amazing coffee (cappuccino, latte, macchiato, long or short/espresso) within 5 minutes of switching it on (it’s worth mentioning that the froth on a macchiato is so thick that you need a spoon and there is beautiful crema on a short coffee”

User Reviews

  • J. Jewkes – (5/5) “It’s expensive for a coffee machine but the coffee it makes is nicer than the filter and pod machines and definately cheaper by the cup than pods if you don’t take the initial outlay into account. And at the moment I still have some tinkering to do to get it perfect but it’s simple to do and I love this machine……….though I’m a little hyper tonight from too much caffeine…….”

  • Mr. Anthony J. Hardwell – (5/5) “I have used a number of coffee makers in the past and I am still getting used to this my first bean to cup machine. So far I have been impressed with the quality of the machine and the coffee which it produces.”

  • Dirk den-Hartog – (5/5) “I have used this machine for about 6 months and have found it excellent in every way. It makes excellent cappuccinos and cafe lattes for my guests and if has made a fewl hundred americanos for me. Fully programmable and temperature adjustable. I cannot recommend this product highly enough for use, results and price.”

  • Paul Bowie – (5/5) “This was purchased as a gift for which I am very grateful but it uses a huge amount of coffee beans! it is well made and works efficiently but would benefit from more logical controls.”

  • Travel Bug – (4/5) “Purchased this machine 2 months ago. Very happy with it. Took a little while to get the coffee strength settings correct to keep my liking, but once set, perfect every time. Milk frother is the only downfall. Cannot get a creamy frothed latte have improved I by my trailing differ brands of skimmed milk but still not over 100%. Using the machine daily. Very happy.”

  • David J. Mallett (5/5) “As a user (coffee maker) problem, the user will need to thoroughly and weekly clean the milk canister nozzle. Ours has become blocked with congealed milk within the elbow of the nozzle. The blocked nozzle if difficult to clean given access to the inside of the elbow as it is very restricted. We now use CLR: 1 part CLR and 10 parts water and soak the elbow enabling the congealed milk to break down and exit the nozzle.

  • Madmaz20fire – (5/5) “My hubby spent a heap of money on this machine without my knowledge. Wow best thing he ever did. Had the machine now for 6/7/8 years and it hasn’t missed a beat. Daily use – Great, Fundraiser for Biggest morning tea – Great, Christmas and Easter gatherings – Great. Love it, love it.”

  • Shannon – (5/5) “I had the magnifica 7 years ago, loved it and used it daily for 5 years. Wanted to upgrade and got this one. Love it also. Never had any trouble with it and 2 years later it is still going strong. Maybe the negatives got a bad batch. I have never had to get mine looked at for any reason. Regular cleaning keeps the milk at a good temp. I will admit it wouldn’t hurt for the coffee and milk to be a bit hotter.”

  • Wilsact – (5/5) “What an awesome machine. I tried various machines, and researched carefully before going with this unit. It simply make brilliant coffee, and is faultless in operation. The build quality and coffee justify’s the high purchase price. After many months of use it has proved to be very reliable, and continues to make brilliant coffee daily. This is the best it gets at home, and will make you feel disappointed in coffee that you drank in coffee shops! Highly recommended to everyone, one stylish, high quality machine.”

  • Raibert – (5/5) “Worth the money at the end of the day and makes a darn good cup of coffee. Froths the milk better than some cafe bought coffee. Looks great in the kitchen and the stainless steel finish makes it stand out.”

  • Zai – (5/10) “Once managed to find the right settings, through adjusting the coffee grinder, quantity, water heat etc. for each coffee type, you get a good tast, as long you find the right coffee! Don’t need to heat or fluff milk manually, as of the full automatic option.”

  • James – (8/10) “Awesome coffee”

  • Frothing is effortless and consistent
  • Impressive auto-cleaning functions
  • Large water and milk tank
  • Compact and quality build

  • Drip tray and grounds container fills up quickly
  • Does not warn about low water vs. bean quantity before brewing

The De’Longhi Prima Donna ESAM6620 does have its misgivings, such as the no-warning for low water level, which can be quite an annoying error when you’re in the middle of brewing. But like most De’Longhi bean-to-cup machines, the Prima Donna is built with high standards, energy-efficient parts and a solid build. Plus, it makes mean espresso shots and one-push milk-infused drinks.
